The FEMCO Machinery Memorial Museum won the 2022 iF Design Award

The "Whirling Smart Manufacturing - FEMCO Machinery Memorial Museum" is part of the industrial design project " FEMCO 70th Anniversary Special Edition" and FEMCO 70th Time Corridor exhibition", complete by FEMCO and Feng Chia University d. School's 2017 to 2019 project. The project had witnessed the epitome of Taiwan's industrial development from an agricultural society to the industrial one. From a yo-yo to wheel manufacturing, manufacturing machines, and industrial equipment, we have gradually developed more precise and automated manufacturing technologies to more advanced industrial equipment, and also enhanced the application of technologies to the construction needs of Taiwan's related livelihood industries.

To celebrate its 70th anniversary at the end of 2019, Far Eastern Machinery has commissioned a team of teachers and students from Feng Chia University's School of Interdisciplinary Design to present the characteristics of Far Eastern Machinery and its past leaders' management through curation, planning, design, and construction from mid-2018. Through the integration and application of digital technology, Far Eastern Machinery Group's "Smart Manufacturing in Transition - 70th Anniversary Commemorative Journal" and "Smart Manufacturing in Transition - Far Eastern Machinery Memorial Museum" were completed.

Feng Chia University's School of Interdisciplinary Design is modeled after Stanford University's d. School, and is horizontally coordinated and integrated with faculty and students from the ten colleges of the university. The team's industrial design achievement, "Intelligent Manufacturing in Rotation - Far Eastern Machinery Memorial Museum," was selected from nearly 11,000 entries from 57 countries and won 2022 iF design award. This award is a new initiative for cross-disciplinary learning in Taiwan's higher education. The cross-disciplinary team of faculty and students will work together to cultivate innovative and transformative talents in the process of industrial problem solving and witness the opportunity for cross-disciplinary cooperation and transformation and innovation.

Whirling Smart Manufacturing: The FEMCO Machinery Memorial Museum

Located in the 60-year-old factory park, the FEMCO Machinery Memorial Museum (FM3) reveals not only the historical face while established in 1959 but a modern manufacturing base, by adding experiencing and interactive exhibition, multimedia show, and collection display. FM3 includes two themed exhibition areas.

1. Vintage Living - Historical Relics Area: An oval white wall surrounding with lighting documents and consecutive exhibitions quietly and lively talks old stories and produces scenes in this solid 60-year-old plant.
2. Generation Making - Manufacturing Exhibition Area: Along with a clear matrix in the past square space, retired machines and cutting-edge equipment is repositioned and recorded to illustrate innovative and productive corporate culture. Cross axles through the roof to the floor draw a great stereo stretch of scraggly machines in perspective. While walking by corners and edges, the audiences would be, realistically and virtually, long for and fall into a reverie in the transitional area.
